Today is Veteran’s Day. A big thank you to those who have served our country.
Some fast facts about veterans and the supply chain.
- Out of the 18 million veterans about one in four is a truck driver. (Driver Resource Center)
- 11.5% of service members leaving the military for civilian jobs have direct experience in logistics, transportation, or material-handling. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
- In 2019, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that about 673,950 veterans were employed in the private “Transportation & Utilities” sector. That was roughly 1 in 12 employed veterans.
- Studies have shown veterans in driving/trucking roles tend to have better performance metrics: e.g., “42% fewer accidents, 98% more miles driven, 59% fewer voluntary terminations, 68% fewer involuntary terminations” versus non-veterans. (Platform Science)
