A 21 Air Boeing 767-300 cargo jet flying for Amazon overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday while landing in thunderstorms and 30 mph gusts, killing five people and seriously injuring five more, and kept two of the airport’s four runways shut into Monday as the NTSB opened an investigation.

The U.S. DOT’s new "America’s Great Corridors of Commerce" program would let states and railroads lease highway and rail rights-of-way to private corridor managers for electric transmission, fiber and pipelines, using the lease revenue to fund road and rail repairs, with up to five priority corridors selected after a public comment period closing Sept. 12.

Mexican drivers blocked the Mexicali-Calexico East crossing again last Thursday as CANACAR put the number of revoked commercial B-1 visas above 25,000 along the northern border, with confusion over cabotage rules already pulling Tijuana’s daily export truck volume down to about 3,000 from a peak of 4,500.
