Savannah outbound tender rejection rate hits 20%

Highlights

The Savannah outbound tender rejection rate has risen 3.8 percentage points in the past week to 19.9%, its highest level since a brief spike near Memorial Day. During the same time, the national tender rejection rate declined from 7.4% to 6.7%.

Savannah is always a headhaul market since it’s a major port city, but only a modest consumption center. SONAR currently shows its demand balance as slightly more outbound heavy than usual (current Headhaul Index of 59 versus an average of 57 in the past year).

The recent rise in the Savannah Outbound Tender Rejection rate has largely been driven by the middle lengths of haul (250-450 miles), where the tender rejection rate rose to 17% from less than 10% in June.
