September 2025 LTL Economic Briefing Highlights
Overall: Headwinds coming from a slowing labor environment (fewer jobs being created) and high interest rates are being offset by the first signs of Fed interest rate easing, strong consumer spending (although becoming cautious), stable wage gains, and stable corporate spending. But corporate sentiment remains subdued, and many executives remain risk averse. Uncertainty surrounding trade agreements and tariffs are still affecting investment and hiring plans, which is keeping freight volumes stable, but lacking any strong growth signals.
