El Paso grapples with tightening capacity
SONAR Key Market Insights: El Paso, Texas
El Paso, Texas, has seen capacity tighten dramatically over the past week. Outbound tender rejections have risen 6.83% week over week to a rate of 10.57%.
Contributing to the tightening capacity is increasing outbound tender volumes which have risen 14.71% w/w.
El Paso, has nearly double an OTRI compared to surrounding markets. Signaling that either cross-border freight has dramatically increased or that carriers have left the market in search of strong options, as the market was incredibly loose at the end of September, which isn’t advantageous for carriers looking to take advantage of the spot market.
“We’re at a tipping point. Capacity is leaving the market little by little. The industry needs significant rate increases to sustain itself. This isn’t just about survival — it’s about making sure trucking can continue to deliver America’s goods safely and reliably in the years ahead.”
