U.S. West Coast
We have seen significant improvements to import rail dwell in Los Angeles over the past 7 days. As we expect continued high volumes through the gateway in February, we are working with our terminals and railroad providers to continue the progress and mitigate dwell impact as much as possible. For extremely urgent containers, please consider leveraging our Rail HotBox program, which prioritizes cargo on the first train post-discharge.
Canada
Winter weather/high winds are periodically causing network slowdowns and train annulments, causing delays throughout the network. We will continue to work through moving cargo as quickly as possible throughout the winter, but progress remains heavily dependent upon weather events.
U.S. East Coast
Some slowdowns should be expected due to winter weather, particularly in the Northeast, but the network remains fluid at this time.
Inland Focus Areas
Post-Winter Storm Fern, many inland ramps are expected to be congested due to closures from January 24 – 26. Continued icy conditions are hindering ability to pick up containers timely, which is expected to create further delays on import delivery, as well as delays on exports moving to and departing from inland ramps timely. Much of the midwest remains challenged, but we see significant impact in Fort Worth and Memphis as well. Expectation is we will see delays over next two weeks as network recovers, which is also dependent on weather events seen in early February. We will share updates as they come available. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for contingency options and solutions!
