| Operational Update: Morocco Weather Impact & DHL Alternative Solutions
Dear Valued Customers and Partners,
Over the past days, Morocco has been facing exceptional weather. Heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas have disrupted ports, airports and road connections across the country. Behind those headlines are real impacts: containers waiting a little longer than planned, trucks unable to reach terminals, and businesses wondering how to keep promises to their own customers.
That’s where we step in.
What’s been happening
To keep people and cargo safe, terminals in Casablanca and Tanger Med had to suspend or limit operations for several days. Vessels sheltered at sea, flights were affected, and a backlog built up across the gateways that connect Morocco with the world.
As of February 9th, both ports are slowly operating again. The flow is slightly improving, but things are not yet back to their usual rhythm. Teams on the ground are working through the backlog step by step so that shelves can be restocked, factories can keep running and orders can reach their destination.
How we’re helping you move forward
At DHL Global Forwarding & Freight Morocco, our job is to look beyond the disruption and find a way through it. Over the last couple of days our people have been:
- Designing alternative routes by road, sea and air so urgent shipments can keep moving
- Using our DHL Aviation capabilities to secure charter solutions when regular capacity is tight
- Offering space in our MedHub warehouse to store cargo safely until ports are ready, helping our customers avoid unnecessary storage costs
- Checking terminal slots every day and planning hand-in-hand with carriers and authorities
We don’t just move cargo, we help keep production lines running, projects on schedule and customers happy. That’s what motivates our teams to work around the clock when situations like this happen.
