Judge Gives UPS Green Light for $150,000 Buyouts to Drivers
A federal judge dismissed a Teamsters request to block UPS’s $150,000 voluntary separation program for parcel drivers, clearing the company to begin notifying its 105,000 eligible drivers as early as next week. Judge Denise Casper ruled the union failed to demonstrate irreparable harm, noting arbitration remains a viable remedy. The Teamsters had estimated up to 10,000 members could accept the offer — a far more generous package than UPS’s fall 2024 buyout, which drew only 3,000 takers. Voluntary separations are scheduled to begin at the end of April.
