Important USA Notice: Refunds Move to Electronic ACH Payments

Starting February 6, 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will issue all refunds electronically via ACH (Automated Clearing), with limited exceptions, as outlined in the Electronic Refunds Interim Final Rule from January 2, 2026: Federal Register.



To help trade partners prepare for this change, CBP has recently streamlined the ACH refund enrollment process by:

1. Adding an automated ACH Refund Authorization tool within the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Secure Data Portal.
2. Automating the ACE Portal importer account application, which is required to access the new ACH Refund Authorization tool.
