Jacksonville faces the beginning of a capacity crunch
|
SONAR Key Market Insights – Jacksonville, Florida
|
Capacity has started tightening in Jacksonville, Florida, as both outbound tender volumes and outbound tender rejections rise. The OTVI has risen 30.23% week over week.
While outbound tender rejection has risen to 10.66%, levels are still in line with the national average of 9.40%. Should rejections keep rising, it could turn spot rates inflationary in the market.
Until then, demand has come online for the gateway to Florida, and spot rates are actually decreasing in the market for now, despite some increasing capacity constraints.

“The three winter storms which hit the Midwest in the first two weeks of December slowed the highway network and created some pent-up demand that was still evident in the spot market in the first half of January. Holiday consumer spending data suggest retail inventories destocked in recent months as freight shipments across modes were below spending trends.”
