Advisory: Road Freight Disruptions Impacting Transportation Services Across India

Willson International is advising customers of ongoing operational disruptions affecting road freight transportation across multiple regions in India, which may impact shipment timelines and service reliability.

Current challenges are being driven by a combination of extraordinary factors, including:

• Diesel supply shortages in key operating regions
• Increased transit delays and vehicle congestion
• Driver shortages impacting fleet capacity and availability
• Supply chain pressures linked to ongoing geopolitical instability in the Middle East
• Delays related to vehicle fitness and compliance procedures at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs)
• Implementation challenges surrounding mandatory Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTD)
• Localized disruptions across industrial hubs and major port corridors

Further disruptions are anticipated beginning May 21, 2026, particularly in the Mundra Port, Gandhidham, and Kutch regions due to fuel shortages and local transport actions. Transportation activity in the Delhi NCR region may also be affected by ongoing protests related to increased entry taxation and additional regulatory burdens on freight carriers.

Given these circumstances, current market conditions may be considered comparable to Force Majeure, as many of these factors are beyond the control of transportation providers.
