STG Logistics names Jack Holmes CEO
STG Logistics named Jack Holmes chief executive effective immediately, replacing Geoff Anderman and refreshing its board and finance team, according to Todd Maiden’s reporting. Holmes spent 37 years at UPS, including a stint as president and CEO of UPS Freight, before retiring in 2016, and has since held board and leadership roles at transportation and logistics companies. Anderman, who became CEO in April 2025 and has held leadership roles at STG since 2017, led the company through its Chapter 11 restructuring and will stay on as an adviser through the transition.
Gary Enzor becomes chairman. Clinton Smith, a restructuring veteran with more than 25 years leading private-equity-backed companies through restructurings and integrations, takes over as interim chief financial officer from Tyler Holtgreven, who remains with the company through Nov. 1. Cherie Schaible is interim general counsel. The board now includes Holmes, Enzor, John Labrie, Joe Troy, Dave Ebbrecht, Darren Hawkins and existing director Tom Donohue. "Jack has spent his entire career in this industry, from the loading dock to the CEO’s office, and he brings a rare combination of operational depth and experience building and scaling businesses," Enzor said. The moves follow the pre-packaged Chapter 11 STG entered in January, which cut funded debt by nearly $1 billion, about 90%, and brought $150 million in new capital from investors including Fortress, Fidelity and Invesco.
STG now has an operator with decades at UPS running a company whose balance sheet has already been reset, but the CFO and general counsel seats are still interim. Shippers and carriers that work with STG should watch how quickly the permanent team takes shape.
Class 8 truck orders rise 18% in September as fleets turn to 2027 models
North American Class 8 orders reached 21,300 units in September, up 18% from August and 3% from September 2025, according to Noi Mahoney’s reporting on FTR Transportation Intelligence data. Orders through September total 263,499 units, up 95% from the same period of 2025, and trailing 12-month orders reached 351,244. The September gain came as manufacturers opened model-year 2027 order books after the EPA 2027 nitrogen oxide emissions pre-buy ended and 2026 production slots sold out. "Truck and engine manufacturers have announced varying strategies for handling the emissions transition, and some have not yet made their plans clear," said FTR senior analyst Dan Moyer, who noted that nonconformance penalties could cost fleets an estimated $6,000 to $7,000 per Class 8 truck, compared with $8,000 to $12,000 for fully compliant engines.
Uncertainty over EPA emissions requirements and truck pricing could influence fleet purchasing decisions in the coming months. Fleets choosing 2027 models are doing so before every manufacturer has laid out its emissions plan.
DP World plots US port comeback with Corpus Christi container terminal
Dubai-based terminal operator DP World has signed a lease option agreement with the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, to develop a container terminal able to handle about 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units a year, according to Noi Mahoney’s reporting. Jeffrey Pollack, the port authority’s chief strategy and sustainability officer, announced the agreement Sept. 29 at the American Association of Port Authorities annual convention in New Orleans. It would be DP World’s first U.S. container terminal development since 2006, when the company divested P&O’s American port operations after congressional opposition over national security concerns, and its first on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The port handles no container cargo today and is looking to diversify beyond energy, with 110.3 million tons moved in the first half of 2026, up 7.7% from the prior year’s record.
A container terminal would give an energy-focused port a second line of business, and it would put DP World back in U.S. container handling for the first time in two decades. The agreement is an option, so the lease terms still have to be worked out.
UK parcel carrier Evri to enter US delivery market with acquisition
Evri, the UK’s largest pure-play parcel delivery company, has agreed to acquire Florida-based Cross Border Connect, a courier focused on e-commerce delivery and returns between the UK and U.S., according to Eric Kulisch’s reporting. Cross Border Connect runs an asset-light network across six ports of entry, and Evri says the deal could bring customers cost reductions of up to 30%. Financial terms were not disclosed. Chris Lentjes will remain CEO of Cross Border Connect. "This acquisition is an important step in the continued growth of Evri’s international business," said David Saenz, Evri’s chief commercial officer. DHL eCommerce took a majority stake in Evri in mid-2025, and Evri also bought Ireland-based customs clearance specialist Coll-8 that year.
The deal gives Evri a U.S. base in UK-U.S. e-commerce, one of the fastest-growing trade lanes in the world. With terms undisclosed, the 30% savings claim is Evri’s own figure.
