Reminder: Opening of the Second Quarter of the Steel TRQs, Year 2

Steel TRQs transitioned to the second quarter of Year 2 in September 30, 2026. Import permit applications were accepted up to 15 days before, while product scope and quota volumes remain unchanged. Learn more.

Reminder: Relief Available for New U.S. Counter-Tariffs

Canada has extended existing tariff remission measures to the new U.S. counter-tariffs, allowing eligible goods to receive relief. Additional remission is available through June 30, 2027 for qualifying goods and uses. See more.

Reminder: Refund of U.S. Surtaxes Paid on Imports Into Canada

Importers who paid U.S. surtaxes may apply for remission to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness up to two years after importation. Willson International’s Trade Advisory Services (TAS) team can help eligible importers pursue refunds. Learn more.

Reminder: Global Affairs Canada Monthly Review of Aluminum and Steel Imports

CBP Updates Import Requirements for Potatoes from Prince Edward Island

CBP has updated the import requirements for potatoes coming from PEI, Canada, to strengthen plant health protections. Requirements include CFIA certification and cull potatoes from PEI are now prohibited from entering the U.S. See more. 

CAPE Phase 3 Access Opens for Plaintiffs

CBP has launched CAPE Phase 3 for eligible Tranche 3 plaintiffs. Importers must be active plaintiffs, have had their IOR numbers certified on or before July 30, 2026, and have no unresolved issues identified by the U.S. DOJ. Additional plaintiffs may receive access in future deployment groups. Find out more.

Understanding Agricultural Use Provisions

Under HTSUS headings 9817.00.50 and 9817.00.60, certain agricultural or horticultural machinery may qualify for duty-free treatment. Goods must meet CBP’s requirements, with submitted proof of use. Importers are responsible for certification and recordkeeping. Learn more.
