MANDATORY Aluminum Reporting EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 01 2026

Canadian importers of aluminum products covered under GIP 83 will soon be required to report aluminum smelt and cast information. Importers will need to update supplier-data collection and provide smelt and cast information through the SWI IID. Find out more.

Opening of the Second Quarter of the Steel TRQs’ Second Year

The tariff rate quotas (TRQs) for steel goods under the Amended Surtax Order will transition to the second quarter of Year 2 on September 30, 2026. Import permit applications for shipments can be submitted up to 15 days before the expected entry date. See more.

CBSA clarifies Steel & TRQ imports into a Customs Bonded Warehouse

CBSA has clarified the requirements for how TRQ and steel imports must be handled when stored in a Customs Bonded Warehouse. Importers should ensure CARM entries are properly updated before goods leave warehouses. Learn more.

UPDATE Canadian Counter-Tariffs on U.S. Products NOW IN EFFECT

Canada’s counter-tariffs on certain U.S. products are now in effect, with surtax rates of 15%-50% applying to specified goods. Companies should review the updated product list to determine whether their imported goods are subject to the new measures. See more details.
