Capacity has yet to return to Kansas City, Missouri, following the holiday break. Outbound tender rejections continued to rise 2.66% week over week for an OTRI of 19.84%, indicating some inflationary pressure in the spot market.
One aspect helping to control spot rates from getting out of hand is the falling outbound tender volumes, down 9.76% w/w.
Outbound tender volumes have yet to come back online in a meaningful way in the new year, leading to a capacity shortage in the area. Shippers looking to move more freight in K.C. in the near-term, will need to adjust tender lead times and reasonable rates for securing coverage.
