Arrive Logistics plans 1,000 hires after Mubadala majority investmentArrive Logistics plans to accelerate hiring, technology investment and expansion into additional freight services after Mubadala Capital agreed to acquire a majority equity interest in the Austin, Texas-based freight brokerage, the companies announced Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed; existing investors ATL Partners, Lead Edge Capital and others will retain meaningful stakes, and the deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter. "We have already begun to increase our hiring for sales, modes, and technology," said Matt Pyatt, CEO and co-founder of Arrive Logistics. "We will hire 1,000 new team members in 2026 with even more growth slated for 2027 and beyond." Arrive has more than 2,000 employees across 10 North American locations, including Toronto and Guadalajara, Mexico, and serves 5,500 customers through a network of 10,000 carriers. The investment will let Arrive expand beyond truckload into produce, cross-border, open-deck, less-than-truckload, partial shipments and its Universal Trailer Pool, along with additional spending on risk management and cargo-theft prevention. Arrive also plans to accelerate development of its proprietary ARRIVEnow transportation management system, and Lead Edge Managing Partner Nimay Mehta said AI represents "a generational inflection point" for the brokerage. Pyatt said Arrive’s expansion plans remain centered on North America: "Our plan is to build the largest and most reliable truckload network in North America." Why It Matters?

Midwest dedicated carrier Behnke buys AG FreightBehnke Dedicated & Logistics has acquired Piedmont, South Carolina-based AG Freight for an undisclosed sum, giving the Michigan-based carrier an outpost in the Southeast and a presence near South Carolina’s Inland Port Greer. AG Freight offers full truckload, less-than-truckload, expedited and drayage transportation. "AG Freight gives us a real foothold in the Southeast," said Behnke Logistics CEO Ben Behnke. "We’ve been a Midwest operation for four generations, and the Greenville market — with its manufacturing base and the inland port — is a natural extension of what we already do well." Battle Creek, Michigan-based Behnke Logistics provides dedicated and over-the-road TL transportation across the Midwest with a fleet of more than 50 power units. Why It Matters?

DeepFabric lands Kenco as it scales supply chain agentsDeepFabric spent three months moving six AI agents into live production at Kenco across commercial, operations, transportation and client services, with 20 agents now planned across the 141-facility, 33-state 3PL over the next 12 months. That timeline sits against a broader trend in which Gartner expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be canceled by the end of 2027, and DeepFabric CEO Kalyan Kommineni said all six agents went live without disrupting service to a single Kenco customer. The freight auditor — automating the reconciliation work between warehouses, carriers and customers — is one of DeepFabric’s three most widely deployed agents, alongside the proposal manager and inventory manager, and the company reports audit-spend reductions of 45% and RFP response times cut by as much as 30%. Port Houston container volumes fall 6% in July as import surge coolsPort Houston handled 369,899 TEUs in July, a 6% decline from 392,829 TEUs a year earlier, as container growth at the Gulf Coast gateway moderated following stronger frontloading-driven activity earlier in 2026. Despite the monthly dip, the port remained up 1% for the year through July at nearly 2.6 million TEUs, with loaded imports up 5% year to date and East Asia driving 57% of import volume. Vessel activity strengthened even as container tonnage moderated: Port Houston logged 710 vessel calls in July, up 4% year over year, while general cargo tonnage jumped 42%. A new Martin Associates study found Houston Ship Channel marine cargo activity supported $986.9 billion in annual U.S. economic value and nearly 3.53 million jobs in 2025, with Port Houston CEO Charlie Jenkins citing "steady cargo movement" across energy, manufacturing and retail. The network now lists more than 6,400 locations across 50 states, up from 5,000 in April, and is targeting 10,000 by the end of 2026; drivers from 93 of the top 100 fleets have already parked at its locations. Truck parking placed second among commercial drivers’ top concerns in ATRI’s 2025 survey of more than 4,200 industry stakeholders, behind only compensation. Truck Parking Club Chief Relationship Officer Brent Hutto was named Aug. 13 to the Texas Trucking Association’s board, where he already chairs its Truck Parking Committee — Texas is the company’s largest market with more than 700 property locations and nearly 14,000 spaces.
