Aurora announced Thursday it has partnered with McLeod Software to develop the industry’s first integration between autonomous trucks and a mainstream transportation management system. The partnership aims to streamline autonomous vehicle adoption for carriers through software integrations. The integration connects Aurora’s app directly with McLeod’s TMS platform, allowing carriers to manage autonomous trucks alongside their traditional fleets.
The integration will support fleet management functions, including load scheduling, dispatch, visibility and invoicing. One goal is to create a seamless operational experience for carriers adopting autonomous technology.
“We want this to be plug-and-play for customers. They’re going to get this truck that drives itself and we want the way that they use that to reflect the way that they operate trucks in their network today,” said Zac Andreoni, vice president of business development at Aurora, in an interview with FreightWaves. “So we want to meet our customers where they are.”
While Aurora has partnered with some of the largest carriers in the industry, this integration specifically targets midsized fleets that typically rely on McLeod’s TMS. These carriers, operating between 100 and 1,000 trucks, represent a significant market segment that has previously faced barriers to autonomous technology adoption.

Torque partners with EdgeCase to develop comprehensive driverless safety case
|
Autonomous truck technology maker Torc Robotics has announced a new phase in its strategic collaboration with Edge Case Research, a frontier technologies and safety-critical systems leader. The partnership will focus on developing a production-ready safety case for Level 4 autonomous trucks, with Edge Case conducting independent assessments of Torc’s driverless safety framework.
“With Edge Case Research, we’re partnering with them to help us with our driverless safety case. And I think in the industry right now, a safety case is the best practice that many of the AV companies are using,” said Steve Kenner, chief safety officer at Torc, in an interview with FreightWaves.
The initiative is part of a larger commitment by Torc to safety and independent validation as it moves toward production and commercialization. Edge Case will assess Torc’s Driverless Safety Case Framework and Evidence Sufficiency Criteria, with future plans to evaluate completed safety case evidence.
“This partnership with Torc represents a pivotal step forward in advancing autonomous trucking safety,” said Nathan Parker, chief executive officer of Edge Case, in a press release. “By leveraging our deep experience across autonomy domains, we’re helping ensure that Torc’s safety case is not only rigorous and transparent, but also production-ready for real-world deployment.”

Hexagon Agility secures major CNG truck order from Trayecto
|
Hexagon Agility has secured a major order to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for 100 heavy-duty trucks operated by Trayecto, Mexico’s largest trucking company. The deal is a big leap in clean transportation for Latin America. The natural gas vehicles feature Hexagon Agility’s largest available onboard CNG fueling system and the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine.
The deployment was made possible through collaboration with Kenworth Mexicana. The release describes the order as a major milestone and provides fleets with a viable alternative to diesel for heavy-duty, long-haul applications.
“This is a watershed moment for clean trucking in this region of the world, where fleets have long-awaited access to a viable alternative to diesel for heavy-duty, long-haul applications,” said Eric Bippus, Chief Commercial Officer for Hexagon Agility in the press release.
The trucks will be equipped with one of Hexagon Agility’s two largest onboard CNG fuel systems available, enabling a driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, depending on payload and terrain. For Trayecto, this extended range capability is critical for maintaining operational efficiency while significantly reducing emissions across their fleet operations.

Clean Trucking reports Tesla is accelerating production at its Semi electric truck factory near Reno, Nevada, installing new equipment to hit high-volume output by late 2025 and begin customer deliveries in 2026, according to recent drone footage and company updates.
A recent article from the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School highlights growing confusion among drivers caused by turquoise lamps. The turquoise lamps are intended to signal that the vehicle is self-driving; however, the Stanford analysis warns that the effectiveness of this color may be diminished by driver confusion.
FreightWaves’ John Kingston writes the EPA proposed blocking California’s Clean Truck Check mandate for out-of-state trucks, citing Commerce Clause violations, as part of broader challenges to the state’s emissions rules. The regulation remains in effect for in-state vehicles, easing burdens on interstate carriers.
