Dear Dohrn Customer,
Over the past two years, we’ve been rebuilding our network from the ground up, and today we’re ready to share the result. Dohrn Transfer Company is now operating as Dohrn.
Dohrn got its start serving customers with rural distribution needs, so our terminal network grew up the same way, spread across smaller markets rather than the major metros where freight density actually lives. That made sense when we started, since it positioned us closer to the customers we served at the time. But our customer profile has changed, and today that same footprint means more miles between stops, longer stem times, and less flexibility. So, we made a change.
With our acquisitions of Sutton Transport and US Special Delivery, we consolidated 42 combined terminals down to 24 large scale facilities in major metro markets across Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana and Nebraska. We quickly integrated all Sutton Transport terminals in 10 months to minimize disruption to our customers. We retrained our teams, standardized our processes across every terminal, and continued to build on Dohrn’s history as a technology leading LTL carrier. We also built a network positioned where freight density actually is.
The result is 97 percent on-time service and 99 percent exception-free performance, backed by a proven track record of consistency. That comes from 42 percent more direct linehaul routes and 39 percent more door capacity, meaning your freight moves point to point with less handling and fewer chances for something to go wrong. If you previously shipped with Sutton Transport, you’ll also notice dynamic shipment visibility and a broader range of next day lanes.
Our core belief has never changed. We’re here to serve our customers and do whatever it takes to help them. What’s changed is the size, needs and locations of the customers we serve. This is Dohrn, reborn.
We know results matter more than announcements, and we intend to keep earning your trust every day. Thank you for shipping with us.
