Tulsa tosses capacity constraints
|
SONAR Key Market Insights: Tulsa, Oklahoma
|
Capacity in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is tight, but starting to loosen as outbound tender rejections fall 0.33% week over week for an OTRI of 13.18%.
Also contributing to loosening capacity is dropping outbound tender volumes. A 1.68% drop w/w contributes to demand, leaving the market negatively impacting capacity.
Tulsa is a relatively medium-sized freight market, indicating that swings in the market aren’t felt as significantly as in larger markets like Houston or Dallas. However, given that most of the markets surrounding Tulsa are seeing similar trends in outbound tender rejections and volumes, it could be indicative of a regional freight trend.

“From month to month we are seeing swings back and forth, from positive to negative and back. The inconsistent trends point to both the challenges and opportunity that the trade war and its downstream effects is having on trucking. For many, three years of poor rate conditions have eroded profits made throughout the pandemic and have limited options for how carriers can adjust to survive in today’s market.”
