Savannah outbound tender rejection rate cut in half
|
SONAR Key Market Insights: Savannah, GA
|
The Savannah outbound tender rejection rate declined 950 basis points in the past week to a current rate of 10.4%, which represents a moderately tight market.
The sharp decline in tender rejection rates was driven by carriers rejecting fewer long-haul tenders, defined as those with lengths of haul exceeding 800 miles. The Savannah long-haul tender rejection rate is currently 11.3%, down from >30% on July 15.
At first blush, the Savannah outbound tender rejection decline appears counter to import volumes clearing customs in that location (CSTEU.USSAV), which are still rising. However, Savannah appears to be one of the trucking markets that is losing share to rail intermodal. Compared to one month ago, Savannah’s long-haul outbound tender volume is down 13% (LOTVI.SAV) while outbound containerized rail intermodal volume is up 24% (ORAIL.SAV).
