Compass Group, a global leader in foodservice and support services, is teaming up with Illuminate Group to transform cold chain management with a new joint venture, “TemperPack+.” The initiative is designed to provide a fully integrated, end-to-end platform for temperature-sensitive product management, from procurement to disposal.
TemperPack+ will offer a full suite of services, including temperature-controlled packaging, real-time tracking, data analytics, fulfillment, and returns. But what sets the platform apart is its closed-loop approach. By integrating services that are often managed separately, like sourcing, kitting, delivery, and product recovery, the new venture promises to reduce packaging waste and lower carbon emissions across the supply chain.
“This partnership is a natural extension of our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Shelly Huber, Chief Procurement Officer of Compass Group North America. “By joining forces with Illuminate, we’re helping our clients ensure their cold chain is not only efficient and compliant, but also aligned with environmental goals.”
The joint venture arrives at a time when industries across the board, from healthcare to grocery delivery, are facing growing demand for precise, sustainable cold chain solutions. Illuminate Group CEO Tyler Smith noted the increasing need for a reliable and circular model. “The ability to track and return packaging while maintaining strict temperature control is a game-changer,” he said.

Nordic Cold Chain Solutions has introduced the Nordic Express Pack, a purpose-engineered cold chain packaging system tailored specifically for GLP‑1 medications, marking a first in the industry.
As demand for GLP‑1 therapies surges due to their effectiveness in treating metabolic conditions, precise temperature control during shipping becomes mission-critical. Nordic’s new solution addresses this with a compact, easy-to-pack design and built-in temperature verification.
Unlike generic cold chain mailers, the Nordic Express Pack delivers pharmacy-grade performance tested under stringent ISTA hot lane and seasonal extreme simulations.
Each pack features integrated temperature indicators that change color to signal any thermal excursions, providing a reliable visual check on drug integrity.
Nordic’s CCO Keith Baechle emphasizes the balance of protection and affordability: “We built the Nordic Express Pack to solve the real‑world challenges of GLP‑1 shipping… faster-to-pack, easier-to-store… without driving up costs.”
The launch arrives at a pivotal moment as healthcare providers face logistical pressure to maintain rigorous cold chain standards amid accelerating GLP‑1 utilization. Nordic’s innovation not only safeguards drug efficacy and patient safety but also enhances operational resilience. The Nordic Express Pack is poised to become a critical asset in specialty pharmaceutical logistics, enabling providers to scale rapidly while meeting regulatory and cost constraints.

Diana’s Bananas, known for taking the bananas that would have gone to waste due to over-ripening, cosmetic imperfections or retail surplus and turning them into a frozen treat, has dropped the newest flavor. Peanut Butter & Strawberry Frozen Banana Bites. A twist on the classic peanut butter and jelly combo, it’s one step shy of the Elvis special.
Each piece is a slice of banana, dipped in strawberry-infused white chocolate and finished with a coating of creamy peanut butter. The product is gluten-free, cholesterol-free, and contains no artificial flavors or colors.
In addition to focusing on nutrition and taste, Diana’s continues to prioritize sustainability. The bananas used in the product are rescued from going to waste, upcycled at peak ripeness to ensure maximum flavor while helping reduce food waste across the supply chain. This approach not only elevates the quality of the product but also aligns with growing consumer demand for more environmentally conscious snacking options.
“With so much nostalgia around peanut butter and jelly, we wanted to reimagine the beloved classic for today’s ingredient-conscious consumer,” said Neil Cox, CEO of Diana’s, in a news release, “Our Peanut Butter & Strawberry Bites deliver the indulgence people love, using real fruit and no shortcuts — just clean, craveable ingredients.”

The Memphis reefer market sees a sharp tightening of capacity as outbound tender rejections rise and reefer outbound tender volumes fall. Reefer outbound tender rejections rose from 16.31% on Jul 7 to 21.13% on July 11, nearly doubling in 4 days. On the flip side reefer outbound tender volumes have fallen 23.9%.
The two main indications of what is happening in a market are taking opposite approaches which creates a strain on capacity and an elevated spot rate. With how aggressively reefer rejections are rising and volumes have fled the market this is likely going to continue to be a problem through the next week at a minimum.
Shippers can expect contract carrier compliance to erode and spot rates to rise as freight needs to move.
