CARM: Late Accounting Penalties (May 19, 2026)

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has advised that certain late accounting penalties (LAPs) issued last week on the statutory holiday were generated in error through the CARM Client Portal. The Agency is working to cancel the penalties and has requested that importers and brokers refrain from filing appeals. See more.

TRQ Permit Requirements: Potential Repeal June 2026

The repeal date for the Order Imposing a Surtax on Importation of Certain Steel Goods is anticipated to be June 27, 2026. The Government of Canada is reviewing whether the tariff rate quota (TRQ) measures will be extended beyond that date. Learn more.

Memorandum D4-1-5: Storage of Goods  

Customs has updated Memorandum D4-1-5: Storage of Goods to outline the procedures the CBSA follows when storing goods pending their clearance or disposal. Find out more.
